Brevard is home to WHITE squirrels and you’ll find they like living in Knob Creek as much as humans do.

White squirrels are not albinos. They are born into gray squirrel families. It is such a delight to see WHITE and GRAY squirrel brothers and sisters scampering up and down trees in our neighborhood. Note: While brilliant white, they’re not perfectly white; heads and backbone might be dark.

BEWARE: Please avoid feeding all squirrels salty, human food. While squirrels can eat sunflower seeds and roasted peanuts, don’t give them raw peanuts in the shell. Actually, peanuts have poor nutritional value AND the shells can harbor a poisonous mold that is bad for squirrels.

ALTERNATIVE: Gather up acorns and provide your own native supplemental food source in the winter or during all seasons.
